Terms of Service
The short version: be honest, be decent, and log real visits. Your reviews stay yours; you let us show them on Brewd. Shop details come from Google and can be wrong. Brewd is a labor of love, offered as is.
These terms (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Brewd (“we”, “us”) about using brewd.org (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Brewd.
- Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens on your account, so tell us right away if you think someone else is using it.
- Your username can’t impersonate someone else or be offensive. We may ask you to change one that is.
2. Your content
“Your content” is what you post on Brewd: brewlog entries, ratings, reviews, lists, comments, your profile and any images you upload.
- It’s yours. You keep ownership of your content.
- You let us show it. So we can run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, reproduce and distribute your content on Brewd, to adapt it to fit the Service (like resizing an image or showing an excerpt), and to show it when we promote Brewd. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others have already shared it or we have to keep it to meet a legal obligation.
- It’s on you. You’re responsible for your content and for having the right to post it.
3. Reviews and ratings
Brewd works because reviews are honest. When you log a visit or write a review:
- it should be about a real visit and your own experience;
- don’t review a shop you own, work at or are paid by, or one run by its competitors;
- don’t post reviews in exchange for money, free drinks or other perks;
- criticism is welcome, but keep it about the coffee and the shop, not personal attacks on the people who work there.
4. Community rules
Don’t use Brewd to:
- harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against anyone;
- post anything illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else’s rights, like their copyright or privacy;
- spam, advertise, or impersonate a person or business;
- scrape the Service, collect other users’ information, or access it with bots, except search engines that follow our robots.txt;
- interfere with the Service or try to get around its security or limits, including by overloading it.
We may remove content that breaks these Terms, and suspend or close accounts that do, sometimes without notice when we need to act quickly.
5. Shop information
Coffee shop names, addresses, photos and other details come from Google Maps Platform and other third parties. We don’t control them, so they can be out of date or wrong. Check before you make the trip. Shops, Google and other providers keep the rights to their names, photos and trademarks.
6. Brewd’s stuff
The Service itself, including its design, code, logos and the Brewd name, belongs to Brewd. Don’t copy or use them without our permission, except as the law allows. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
7. Leaving Brewd
You can stop using Brewd at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account through our contact form. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or if we stop offering the Service. Sections 2 (the parts about responsibility), 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 still apply after your account ends.
8. No warranties
Brewd is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that any content on it (including shop information and other users’ reviews) is accurate.
9. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Brewd won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill or other intangible losses, that come from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, or from content or conduct of other users or third parties on it. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to $50 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is more. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part of these Terms, that doesn’t mean we’ve given up the right to.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant, we’ll let you know on Brewd or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Brewd after that, you’re agreeing to the new Terms.
